BAND works alongside staff and trained volunteers to provide a safe and friendly environment for patients to spend time away from the wards.

We provide light refreshments and a chance to chat with a volunteer or to share any problems that you might have during your stay.

Our volunteers also visit the wards every day so that those people who are not able to come to “The Lounge” can speak to someone other than the ward staff.

We provide signposting – a referral pathway for patients to other organisations and services, e.g. Advocacy.

Our volunteers support the provision of meaningful daytime activities for inpatients.

My Experience

“I have found having access to The Lounge at The Royal Bolton Hospital as an inpatient precious, as it enables me the chance to be free of the ward environment for a while whilst still feeling safe and secure. The volunteers working there are always willing to talk as well as offering free drinks and the opportunity to play games or do some crafts. It is a little safety haven for advice and support whilst you are in the midst of recovery”
