Volunteering

The Role of the volunteer is flexible according to time and skills a person can bring to a drop-in.

Volunteers:

  • Befriend members

  • Support the running of self help groups

  • Cook and serve food

  • Organize outdoor activities

  • Run competitions

  • Help edit magazines

  • Support the running of partnership groups

  • Design posters, websites and leaflets such as this one

BAND
Needs people who can:

  • Cook meals for the members

  • Help run the drop-ins

  • Befriend and support members

  • Become a part of the BAND community

  • Offer a regular commitment

  • Relate and communicate well with people from all backgrounds

  • Respect people's right to confidentiality

  • Be flexible in their approach to voluntary work

We are unable to offer counselling placements at present

BAND understands the difficulties people who experience mental health problems face in gaining employment. Therefore, we welcome applications from people who have experienced mental health problems.

We can offer:

  • An opportunity to gain experience in voluntary work

  • Practical and personal support in all aspects of voluntary work

  • Volunteer expenses

  • Training where relevant

  • The chance to feel part of a team

  • Experience in working in the field of mental health within a group setting
